Mr. Peter Tranent is a Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Tasmania. His research focuses on Human Information Interaction, Social Psychology, and Counselling and Wellbeing. He has led or contributed to funded projects such as the 'Adolescents' and Young Adults' Stories Regarding Gambling' study (2009-2014) and the 'Welfare to Work for People with Disabilities in Northern Tasmania' consultancy (2006). His teaching innovations include evaluating online assessment methods and large-classroom pedagogy. He supervised Janet Lynn Patford's Master's thesis on problematic partner gambling (2012). His work spans cognitive ergonomics (e.g., standing workstation effects on office workers), gambling-related ethical dilemmas in practice, and racism measurement.
