Peter J. Katzenstein

Professor Peter J. Katzenstein holds the Walter S. Carpenter Jr. Professor of International Relations at Cornell University's Department of Government, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His work bridges international relations and comparative politics, focusing on political economy, security, culture, and the interplay of time and space in global civilizations.

Key research themes include power dynamics, uncertainty in world politics, and regional identities. His notable works include Uncertainty and Its Discontents (2022), Downfall: The End of the American Order (2022), and Protean Power (2018). He has edited over 40 books and contributed to more than 100 articles or chapters.
