معرفی
Professor Peter Brown is a faculty member in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Western Ontario, affiliated with the Western Meteor Physics Group. His research focuses on the dynamics of solar system small bodies, particularly meteors, meteorites, meteoroids, and asteroids. He actively advises graduate and undergraduate students, emphasizing diversity and inclusion in physics. His work integrates multi-instrument observational techniques (radar, optical, and acoustic) with numerical modeling to study meteoroid streams and planetary defense hazards.
Key affiliations include the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Science and the Meteor Physics Group. His research spans meteoroid stream evolution, impact hazard assessments, and interplanetary dust dynamics. Notable contributions include studies on the Perseids, Leonids, and Tagish Lake meteorite fall, alongside collaborations with international networks like the Global Meteor Network.
Recent publications address interstellar meteoroid detection, orbital dynamics of Earth-impacting asteroids, and satellite risk mitigation strategies. His work bridges observational astronomy with applied planetary science, emphasizing interdisciplinary applications for space safety.
Labs/Teams: Western Meteor Physics Group, Canadian Automated Meteor Observatory (CAMO), and the Global Meteor Network collaboration.
