Pernille Holst is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. She works at the University Hospital for Companion Animals as both a veterinarian and oncology resident, specializing in cancer diseases in companion animals. Her academic appointment includes responsibilities in both the Section for Internal Medicine, Oncology and Clinical Pathology and the Section for Diagnostic Imaging & Companion Animal Surgery and Clinical Specialties.
Dr. Holst graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Copenhagen in 2010 and has been employed at the University Hospital for Companion Animals since 2012. She is currently completing her training to become a European specialist in veterinary oncology (ECVIM-CA Oncology).
Her research primarily focuses on cancer diseases, diagnosis, and treatment in dogs and cats. Key areas include osteosarcoma diagnosis, electrochemotherapy and calcium electroporation of tumors, and the use and effects of cannabinoids in companion animals. Her work bridges clinical practice with advanced diagnostic techniques, particularly in veterinary oncology.
Analysis of her recent publications shows a strong focus on translational veterinary oncology, with particular emphasis on innovative cancer treatments and diagnostic approaches for companion animals.
