Peng Lee, MD, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pathology at New York University School of Medicine, affiliated with the New York VA Healthcare System – Manhattan Campus.
Education and Training:
- MD (1989) from Peking University, School of Medicine, Beijing
- PhD (1995) in Molecular Biology from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn (Mentor: Maureen McLeod)
- Postdoctoral Fellow (1996-1998) at The Rockefeller University, New York (Mentor: Robert G. Roeder)
- Residency (1998-2001) and Chief Resident (2001-2002) in Pathology at New York University Medical Center
- Fellow (2002-2003) in Surgical/Oncologic Pathology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
Research Interests: Dr. Lee’s work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of hormonal (androgen and estrogen) receptors, their cofactors, and target genes in endocrine organ development and malignancies, particularly prostate and breast cancers. His lab investigates how stromal androgen receptor pathways influence stromal-epithelial interactions in tumorigenesis and develops prognostic/predictive biomarkers for aggressive prostate cancer. Long-term goals include translating findings into clinical applications for biomarker identification and novel therapeutic strategies.
