Paul Warmington

Paul Warmington is a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Educational Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. His research focuses on critical race studies, education policy, and social justice, with a particular emphasis on Black British intellectual traditions and systemic racism in education. He holds a PhD in Education from the University of Birmingham (2000) and has held senior academic roles including Director of Research and Head of Postgraduate Research at the University of Birmingham. His work bridges academia and community advocacy, addressing issues such as widening access to education and racial equity in policy.

Key contributions include co-editing Critical Race Theory in Education: Major Themes (2018) and authoring Black British Intellectuals and Education (2014), which examines the historical contributions of Black thinkers to UK education. His research has been funded by the ESRC, British Academy, and others. Warmington has also engaged in public scholarship, including contributions to BBC documentaries on historical racial injustices in education.
