Constantino Dumangane Jr. is a Lecturer in Education at the Department of Education, University of York, and a member of the Centre for Research on Education and Social Justice (CRESJ). He joined in June 2019 and focuses on critical theories and social justice in education.

His research employs Critical Race Theory and Bourdieu to examine how intersections of race, class, gender, and faith affect Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) youth's educational trajectories. He investigates topics like misrecognitions, microaggressions, performativity, and widening participation in domestic and global higher education contexts.
His recent funded projects include a British Academy / Leverhulme Small Research Grant analyzing how Black faith-practising youth perceive beliefs as beneficial or risky to their social and educational lives. His publications explore qualitative methods in elite universities and friendship networks in secondary schools.

Dumangane supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students in topics related to race, racism, intersectionality, widening participation, and higher education policy. He is involved in teacher training (PGCE) and serves in departmental roles such as Programme Leader for the BA in Sociology and Education (BASE).
