Paul Tabar is a Professor of Sociology/Anthropology at the Lebanese American University (LAU) and Director of the Institute for Migration Studies. He specializes in migration studies, political sociology, and diaspora politics, with a focus on Lebanese and Arab communities. His research explores diasporic identities, transnationalism, and the impact of migration on homeland-sending states. He holds a PhD and BA (Hons) from Macquarie University, Australia.

- Lebanese diasporic communities and their political engagement
- Social memory and collective identity in Lebanon
- Racism, multiculturalism, and media framing of ethnic groups
- State-diaspora interactions and transnational policies

His current research includes studies on migrant habitus, diasporic political fields, and the role of diasporas in conflict resolution and democratic development. He has also examined the representation of Lebanese-Australian youth in media and the Cronulla riots' legacy on social memory.
