Dr. Lina Venturas is Professor of Migration and Diaspora Studies at Panteion University's Department of Political Science and History, where she researches historical and contemporary migration patterns through interdisciplinary approaches combining history, sociology and political science. Her scholarship examines the transformation of social relations in migration contexts, refugee resettlement mechanisms, and diaspora formations across different historical periods.
Research interests focus on:
- European migration history from 19th century to present
- Refugee governance and international organizations
- Social memory and collective identity in migrant communities
- Transnationalism and spatial transformations
Recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on refugee crises management, analyzing multi-level governance structures from the Interwar period to contemporary globalization. Her 2022 work examines sovereignty negotiations during refugee resettlement in Greece, while earlier scholarship explores guest worker programs and diasporic community formation.
