Paul H. Davis is a Professor of Biology at the University of Nebraska Omaha's College of Arts and Sciences. He leads the Molecular Parasitology Lab focused on studying Toxoplasma gondii and its implications for human health. His research bridges parasitology, cellular biology, and tropical medicine, with a particular emphasis on developing anti-parasitic treatments for malaria and toxoplasmosis.
Teaching expertise includes Molecular & Cellular Biology and Human Infectious Diseases. His work examines how chronic T. gondii infections influence human behavior and develops novel therapies targeting drug-resistant parasite cysts. Collaborative studies with Plasmodium falciparum provide insights into malaria treatment via T. gondii as a model organism.
Laboratory activities combine genomic analysis, genetic manipulation, and in vitro/in vivo models to investigate parasite-host interactions. The lab evaluates new compounds for anti-parasitic efficacy, aiming to address global health challenges posed by these pathogens.
