Professor Paul Groundwater is a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Sydney School of Pharmacy, University of Sydney. He holds adjunct roles as Guest Professor at Tianjin University and Honorary Professor at Durham University. His research focuses on cancer and psoriasis drug design, antibacterial detection methods, and phytotherapy. Groundwater holds a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh and has held academic positions at Cardiff University, the University of Sunderland, and the Australian National University.

Publications: Over 70 peer-reviewed papers and three books, including An Integrated Guide to Human Drug Metabolism (2024). Recent studies highlight FtsZ inhibition, halogen-substituted coumarins, and cocrystal polymorphs.
Grants and Collaborations: Notable grants include funding for anti-Gram negative antibiotics (2021) and NPC1 disease research (2022). He leads the Centre for Drug Discovery Innovation and collaborates with global institutions.
