A/Prof Alison Ung holds the rank of Visiting Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) within the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. She completed her BSc (Hons) and PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Previously, she served as Research Fellow and Research Manager at Johnson & Johnson Research Pty Ltd (1994–2008), focusing on drug discovery and medicinal chemistry. Her research spans medicinal chemistry, biomolecular chemistry, and plant biology, with emphasis on drug discovery, natural product-derived therapies, and hydrogen storage materials. She has supervised numerous research projects and collaborations, including work on antibacterial agents, antidiabetic compounds, and phytochemical isolation. Alison is actively involved in funded research initiatives such as design of FtsZ inhibitors and development of alkaloid-like compounds for drug discovery. She has contributed to over 130 peer-reviewed publications and maintains collaborative networks through platforms like ResearchGate and Google Scholar.
