Paul DePasquale is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Winnipeg's Faculty of Arts. He specializes in Indigenous literature, history, and culture with a focus on oral narratives and representations in media. His current research includes a book project on Haudenosaunee cultural expressions.
DePasquale is a member of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory (Upper Mohawk). His teaching areas include Indigenous literatures, creative writing, and critical analysis of cultural representations. He serves as General Programs Chair for the English Department, offering office hours Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:45-12:45pm.
His research explores intersections between Indigenous oral traditions and colonial discourses. Notable works include editing Across Cultures/Across Borders (2010) and co-editing Omushkego Legends and Histories from Hudson Bay (2005). He frequently examines how colonial institutions like Manitoba Hydro perpetuate systemic narratives through promotional materials.
DePasquale's publications span literary analysis, historical critique, and pedagogical innovation. He has contributed to journals like Canadian Children's Literature and Home Words, and his creative work appears in anthologies such as Manitowapow.
