Paul Carpenter

Paul Carpenter serves as Professor in the Division of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Professor in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch. He concurrently holds roles as Medical Director of the Long-Term Follow-Up Clinical Service and Affiliate Investigator in the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutch Cancer Center.

Dr. Carpenter directs the world-class Adult Clinical Care Long-Term Follow-Up Program (LTFU), focusing on post-transplant survivorship and management of complications like graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). His research pioneers new GVHD treatments through clinical trials targeting both acute and chronic manifestations, while developing strategies to overcome long-term treatment complications and prevent transplant relapse. The LTFU program serves as a global model for post-transplant care coordination and physician training.

His work directly impacts clinical protocols for transplant survivorship care across multiple institutions.

As LTFU Director, he oversees integrated clinical teams managing comprehensive post-transplant care pathways that bridge specialty and primary care for long-term survivorship.
