Stephanie Lee

Dr. Stephanie Lee is a Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and holds multiple leadership positions at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, including Associate Director of the Clinical Research Division and Director of the Long-Term Follow-Up Program. She is the holder of the David and Patricia Giuliani/Oliver Press Endowed Chair in Cancer Research and serves as lead investigator for the Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease Consortium, a nationwide research network funded by the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Lee's research focuses on improving the lives of bone marrow and blood stem cell transplant recipients, with particular emphasis on chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Her work spans multiple areas including survivorship, quality of life, patient-reported outcomes, and healthcare disparities in transplantation. She has been instrumental in identifying genetic criteria to better match donors with patients, which has lowered the risk of complications like GVHD and improved post-transplant quality of life.

As research director of Fred Hutch's Long-Term Follow-Up Program, Dr. Lee oversees outcomes tracking for more than 5,000 transplant survivors. She serves as principal investigator for multiple clinical trials including studies on belumosudil for preemptive treatment of chronic GVHD and axatilimab for sclerotic chronic GVHD. Her current NIH-funded projects include 'Improving Outcomes Assessment in Chronic Graft vs. Host Disease' (R01 CA118953), 'Biologic Correlatives of Chronic GVHD Onset' (U01 CA236229), and 'Ustekinumab for graft versus host disease prevention' (R01 FD006836).

Dr. Lee leads the Stephanie Lee Lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, which focuses on hematopoietic cell transplantation patients and chronic GVHD.
