Dr. Patricia Koplas is a Professor and Chair of the Biology & Chemistry Department at Queens University of Charlotte, within the College of Arts & Sciences. She teaches courses in cell biology, neurobiology, anatomy and physiology, and leads an interfaith competency seminar for pre-health students. She is also the Pre-Health/Pre-Vet advisor and leads international study tours.

Her research focuses on the effects of plant extracts on cultured cancer cells and the role of faith-based conversations in clinical settings. She is passionate about STEM outreach, particularly through programs for elementary school girls. Her interdisciplinary interests bridge biology, health professions, and ethics in medicine.
Dr. Koplas has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation Chair (2015) and the William S. Lee Distinguished Professor Award (2009). These honors reflect her excellence in teaching, scholarship, and academic leadership.
She advises undergraduate pre-health and pre-vet students, mentors research, and integrates experiential learning through study abroad and community engagement. She is actively involved in curriculum development, including learning communities and interdisciplinary seminars.
Dr. Koplas is also engaged in outreach initiatives, particularly STEM camps for young girls, promoting early interest in human biology and science careers.
