Parker Kennedy is a Professor in the College of Humanities and Sciences at the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor (UMHB). He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Capella University, an MS in Deaf Education from McDaniels College, and a BA in Psychology from Gallaudet University. His academic career spans over 22 years, with prior teaching experience at Gallaudet University, Northern Eastern University (Boston), and North Harris College (Houston).
His research focuses on improving educational outcomes for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, particularly in the transition from secondary to postsecondary education. Key areas include assessing hearing students' success in ASL programs, identifying prerequisite skills for college readiness among ASL users, and enhancing the first-year experience for Deaf college students. His doctoral dissertation analyzed satisfaction and retention among first-year Deaf students at Gallaudet University, contributing to institutional strategies for student support.
Dr. Kennedy teaches courses in American Sign Language (ASL), Education, Deaf Culture, Deaf Studies, and First Year Experience. He has served on test accommodation committees to ensure equitable access for diverse learners.
