Panagiotis Xynogalos is a Senior Physician and Medical Director at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), affiliated with the Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Pulmonology. He leads the Pacemaker Surgery unit and the Siebeck II/von Weizsäcker Ward, while also serving as a Research Associate in the Ag Ion Channel Signaling Complexes group. His clinical roles include managing cardiac rhythm implants and invasive electrophysiology procedures.
Dr. Xynogalos holds a PhD in molecular cardiology (2015) from Heidelberg University, focusing on Kir2.x potassium channels. His research spans cardiac electrophysiology, ion channel pharmacology, and device-associated complications. He is a member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie (DGK) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Key contributions include studies on verapamil's effects on Kir2.3 channels, radiation impacts on CIEDs, and telemedicine acceptance for arrhythmia patients. His work bridges clinical electrophysiology with molecular mechanisms, emphasizing translational research in arrhythmia management.
