PD Dr. med. Maura Magdalena Zylla is a Senior Physician and Medical Director at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), affiliated with the Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Pulmonology. She leads the Mathes Wunderlich Ward and is part of the Group of Molecular and Translational Cardiac Electrophysiology. Her roles include clinical leadership in cardiology and research focused on arrhythmia mechanisms.
Zylla holds a Habilitation (Venia legendi in Internal Medicine and Cardiology) from Heidelberg University and a PhD in Physiology. Her academic career spans clinical cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, and translational research. She has received grants including the Olympia Morata Program and DZHK Rotations Stipendium.
Her research interests center on atrial fibrillation mechanisms, personalized therapy, catheter ablation strategies, and HFpEF pathophysiology. Notable contributions include studies on fibroblast activation in HFpEF and liver-heart crosstalk. She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on arrhythmia management, device innovation, and translational cardiology.
Zylla is a member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie and has received the Posterpreis DPG-Tagung, Dresden. Her clinical expertise includes advanced cardiac electrophysiology procedures and managing complex arrhythmia cases.
