Patrick Lugenbiel

Patrick Lugenbiel is a Senior Physician and academic leader in the Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Pulmonology at Heidelberg University Hospital. He holds leadership roles as Head of the Heidelberg Center for Cardiac Arrhythmias, Clinical Electrophysiology Section, and Invasive Electrophysiology Section. His work focuses on molecular mechanisms of arrhythmias and translational therapies. He completed his medical degree (2009), habilitation (2010), and PhD (2008) at Heidelberg University.

Research interests include electrophysiological mechanisms of atrial fibrillation, targeted therapies, and genetic arrhythmia syndromes. Key achievements include awards from the German Society of Cardiology and grants from the Ernst und Berta Grimmke Foundation and Boston Scientific. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications.

Professional roles include membership in the European Society of Cardiology and leadership in eHealth initiatives for the German Cardiac Society. Clinical expertise spans catheter ablation, electrophysiological studies, and managing supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular arrhythmias.
