Pam Berenbaum is a Teaching Professor and Associate Director of Program Engagement for the Global Health Program at Middlebury College. She has taught since 2010, focusing on global health, public health policy, disaster public health, and social change. Her work spans government (Vermont Department of Health), academia, consulting, and non-profit sectors. She holds a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University, with research in risk assessment and economic evaluation.

Professional Experience: As an epidemiologist at Vermont’s Department of Health, she specialized in syndromic surveillance, bioterrorism, and emergency preparedness, collaborating with state agencies and the CDC. Her research interests include applying systems thinking to public health challenges like obesity, gun violence, and maternal mortality, emphasizing interdisciplinary solutions.
Teaching & Advising: Advises senior independent studies (ENVS 0700) and thesis projects. Courses taught include Public Health of Disasters, Global Health, and Public Health Policy. She also oversees program engagement for the Global Health minor and contributes to cross-disciplinary initiatives like Health, Food, and Poverty (INTD 0426).
