Kate Crawford is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Middlebury College, located in McCardell Bicentennial Hall. Her interdisciplinary work integrates environmental health science, aquatic ecology, and public health to explore connections between human health and environmental systems. She teaches courses such as Environmental Health, Toxic World, and Justice, Health & Environment, emphasizing data science applications and environmental justice. Her research focuses on PFAS exposure, endocrine-disrupting compounds, and contaminants in seafood, with a particular interest in vulnerable populations and community-engaged research.

Research Interests: Dr. Crawford investigates how chemicals from consumer products and industrial processes enter ecosystems and impact human and wildlife health. Her work employs tools from epidemiology, toxicology, and data science, with recent projects examining PFAS exposure via ski wax, seafood consumption, and breastfeeding. She leads the Crawford Lab, offering research opportunities for students interested in environmental health.
Teaching & Advising: She supervises senior independent studies and thesis projects in Environmental Studies and Biology, emphasizing interdisciplinary research. Courses taught include BIOL 0700 (Senior Independent Study), ENVS 0118 (Toxic World), and ENVS 0230 (Environmental Health).
