Megan Mayhew-Bergman is a Professor of Creative Writing at Middlebury College, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches courses spanning introductory writing workshops (CRWR 0170), advanced fiction/nonfiction workshops (CRWR 0370/0380), and specialized topics like environmental literature and the 'Feminine Heroic.' Her courses emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to storytelling, environmental justice, and the intersection of memory with landscape.
She has taught across multiple terms since Fall 2021, including courses like Environmental Lit Workshop (Spring 2022) and Advanced Non-Fiction: Memory and Landscape. Her pedagogy integrates critical analysis with creative practice, often incorporating authors like Jesmyn Ward, Robin Kimmerer, and Pam Houston.
Megan advises senior theses in creative writing (CRWR 0701) and critical writing (ENGL 0700), and oversees independent studies in environmental humanities (ENVS 0700/0701). She has collaborated across departments, including co-teaching FYSE 1018 on gender and environmental narratives.
Her teaching focuses on narrative form, ecological writing, and amplifying marginalized perspectives in literature. Office hours are held Wednesdays via Zoom/in-person.
