Olya Bryksina is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Winnipeg’s Asper School of Business. She holds a PhD in Marketing (2014) from the University of Manitoba, an MA in Economics from McGill University, and a BA in Economics from the University of Winnipeg. Her research focuses on how consumer goals shape decision-making processes, product preferences, and choices. Notable work includes investigations into intergroup judgments based on body size cues, divergences in choices for others versus self, and the role of regulatory focus in philanthropy and goal pursuit. Her research has earned recognition, including a Best Paper Award from the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.
Teaching responsibilities include Consumer Behaviour, Fundamentals of Marketing, and Social Media Marketing courses. Her scholarly contributions span topics like construal-level theory, goal progress dynamics, and sequential decision-making effects. Research themes emphasize motivational frameworks in consumer contexts, with applications to philanthropy, sustainability, and interpersonal decision-making.
Publications appear in top journals such as Journal of Consumer Psychology, Social Psychological and Personality Science, and Marketing Letters. Her work bridges marketing theory with practical insights into consumer behavior patterns driven by psychological goals and environmental cues.
