Oliver Traynor

Oliver Traynor is a Research Associate at the University of Glasgow working in the MRC/CSO Social & Public Health Sciences Unit. He holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow focused on outdoor nature-based play and learning for children's health behaviors. Currently, he contributes to two projects: the MRC-funded Early Childhood Outdoor Nature-based Play and Learning (ECO Nature Play) and the NIHR-funded Health Determinants Research Collaboration-Glasgow.

Oliver specializes in mixed-methods research with expertise in participatory methods such as systems-based mapping and Evaluability Assessment. His work explores the intersection of natural environments and public health, particularly for early childhood development.

Recent publications demonstrate his focus on nature-based interventions for health promotion, implementation determinants in childcare settings, and methodological innovations in evaluating environmental health impacts. His collaborations span multiple disciplines including psychology, nutrition, and social sciences.
