Dr. Anne Martin is a Research Fellow at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow. Her work focuses on evaluating and developing complex public health interventions related to outdoor play, child and adolescent health, obesity prevention, and sleep/mental health. She holds a Ph.D. in Nutrition and Exercise Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and an M.Sc. in Human Nutrition from the University of Glasgow.
Research interests include nature-based childcare impacts, parental perceptions of outdoor play risks, intergenerational physical activity interventions, and digital health solutions for adolescents. She co-leads projects on outdoor learning effects and led the CLOCK OFF study on reducing adolescents' nighttime screen use. She is also the Research Site Manager for the NAP SACC UK trial.
Key grants include funding from the MRC for outdoor play intervention development and Scottish Government grants exploring outdoor nurseries' health benefits. She has collaborated with organizations like NHS Ayrshire and Arran and Inspiring Scotland.
Dr. Martin serves as Chair of the Early Care and Education SIG for the International Society for Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity and is a member of the UK Society for Behavioral Medicine.
