Professor Laurence Moore is Director of the MRC/CSO Social & Public Health Sciences Unit and Co-Programme Leader of the Complexity Programme at the University of Glasgow. A social scientist and statistician, he has led over £87M in research grants evaluating public health interventions.
His research develops and evaluates interventions to improve population health, with emphasis on adolescent health, substance misuse prevention, and physical activity promotion. Current work applies complex systems approaches to public health challenges, including participatory systems mapping and agent-based modeling.
Professor Moore co-led the 2021 update of the MRC/NIHR Framework for developing and evaluating complex interventions. His extensive publication record includes studies on smoking prevention, alcohol-related violence, and school-based health initiatives that have directly influenced UK public health policy.
