Olga Valbuena is an Associate Professor of English at the College of Arts and Sciences, Wake Forest University. She earned her PhD and MA from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, and her BA from the University of California, Irvine.
- Research Interests: Shakespearean drama, Early Modern literature, women's writings, religious dissent, and political theology.
- Courses Taught: Shakespeare studies, British literature, Renaissance literature, and argumentative writing.
Her scholarship focuses on the intersections of religion, law, and resistance in early modern England, with a particular emphasis on marginalized voices. She has contributed to digital humanities projects like Renaissance Women Online, editing and contextualizing works by early women writers.
Valbuena’s publications include a monograph analyzing royal divorce cases and religious controversies in Shakespearean contexts, essays on Donne’s theological debates, and editorial work on recusant texts. These works span interdisciplinary sub-fields such as hagiography, translation studies, and feminist literary criticism.
