Dr. Olga Fellus is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Brock University's Faculty of Education, holding a PhD in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment from the University of Ottawa. With over 20 years of experience in education, she has served as a researcher, instructor, teacher, and educational consultant across various academic settings.
Her research focuses on identity construction in mathematics education, STEM integration, TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) in math contexts, discourse analysis, learning theories, early algebra development, spatial reasoning, educational change, and complexity theory applications. She investigates how sociocultural narratives shape children's mathematical identities, particularly exploring picture books as tools for identity formation and examining spatial reasoning in authentic engineering contexts.
Publications frequently explore mathematical identity construction through children's literature, spatial reasoning in engineering challenges, and socio-ecological approaches to mathematics education. Recent works emphasize interdisciplinary connections between mathematics, literature, and technology, often employing qualitative methodologies and discourse analysis.
Dr. Fellus teaches courses including Mathematics in the Curriculum (EDUC 5P55), Teaching Primary/Junior Mathematics (EDBE-8P44), and Mathematics I Primary/Junior (EDBE-8P39). She maintains active affiliations with professional organizations including AERA (multiple SIGs), CMESG, and PME-NA.
