Dr. Steven Khan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Brock University's Faculty of Education. His research focuses on Mathematics Education emphasizing 'Multispecies Flourishing,' integrating ecological ethics, financial literacy, and social justice. He advocates for pedagogies that nurture curiosity, collaboration, and compassion through mathematics. Current interests include financial literacy as a justice tool addressing climate collapse, racial bias, and ecosystem restoration.
He teaches graduate-level courses including EDBE 8P29 (Teaching Junior-Intermediate Mathematics), EDBE 8P39 (Teaching Primary-Junior Mathematics), and EDUC 5P92 (Intro to Educational Research). His work spans curriculum theorizing, open educational resources, and critical discourse analysis in mathematics textbooks.
Khan has secured grants from Brock University Research Initiative Award, Alberta Ministry of Education, and the Center for Teaching & Learning for projects like 'Math for Multispecies Flourishing' and 'Indigenous philosophies in mathematics education.'
