María del Carmen Santamaría García

María del Carmen Santamaría García is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Philology at the University of Alcalá (UAH). Her research focuses on discourse analysis, gender studies, multimodal analysis, and educational linguistics. She participates in the research group Discurso, Identidad y Cognición (Discourse, Identity, and Cognition). Key projects include the MIAMUL study on multicultural education through children's books and the AHEH project promoting arts entrepreneurship. She has led or collaborated on multiple grants, including a 2022 project on migration narratives and a 2018 study on gender stereotypes in children's literature. Her teaching spans master's programs in education, focusing on English language teaching strategies and intercultural communication. Notable publications address topics like (im)politeness in education, hyperbole in social media, and discourse construction in digital contexts.

Research Interests: Through her work, Prof. Santamaría explores how discourse shapes identity, particularly in educational and digital spaces.
