Océane Fiant

Océane Fiant is a Post-doctoral fellow and Contractual lecturer-researcher in Sociology at the Research Group in Law, Economics, Management (GREDEG) of University Côte d'Azur, holding a joint position as junior fellow in AI & Sociology within the EFELIA-3IA Côte d'Azur project and active membership in the INNOS team (Innovation in organizations and society).

Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Nantes, where her thesis 'Algorithms before artificial intelligence: issues, practices and contexts of medical decision automation based on two case studies' examined historical and philosophical dimensions of medical algorithmic systems. This was followed by a postdoctoral internship at the University of Technology of Compiègne focused on machine learning in oncology.

Dr. Fiant's research critically investigates AI's socio-technical integration in healthcare, emphasizing explainability challenges, transformation of medical expertise, and clinical workflow adaptation. Her work bridges sociology, philosophy, and medical technology through interdisciplinary frameworks, with current focus on developing responsible AI education methodologies via the EFELIA project to equip future practitioners with ethical design tools.

She has secured significant research support through the French National Cancer Institute-funded oncology project, collaborating with multiple French cancer centers to study real-world AI implementation challenges. As an INNOS team member, she contributes to organizational innovation studies while advancing critical perspectives on AI-society interactions within GREDEG's research ecosystem.
