Nicholas Ayache is a Research Director at Inria and the Scientific Director of 3IA Côte d'Azur, affiliated with the University of Côte d'Azur. He leads the EPIONE project-team focused on e-Patients for e-Medicine, integrating AI with medical imaging and multimodal patient data. His work bridges advanced computational modeling and clinical applications to enable personalized, automated, and explainable digital healthcare solutions.
His research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine, particularly in developing digital twins of patients (e-Patients) to drive automated diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. He focuses on personalizing AI models using medical images, clinical records, biological markers, and behavioral data. His vision supports robust, safe, and interpretable AI systems for real-world clinical deployment.
Awarded numerous international honors, Nicholas Ayache is a member of both the French Academy of Sciences and the French Academy of Surgery. His scientific excellence has been recognized through the ERC grant, the MICCAI Enduring Impact Award, and the Steven Hoogendijk Award, among others.
