Julie Charpenet is a Lecturer in Private Law at the University of Côte d'Azur's Faculty of Law and Political Science, affiliated with the Research Group in Law, Economics, Management (GREDEG), Deep Law for Tech (DL4T) project, and Interdisciplinary Institute of Artificial Intelligence (3IA Côte d'Azur).
Her research examines how private digital powers and technologies reshape fundamental rights and regulatory frameworks, with doctoral work focused on online content moderation as a functional regulatory tool for commercial platforms. She analyzes European legislative shifts from regulating illegal content to governing content moderation systems themselves.
Teaching specializations include:
- Digital Law: AI and law, data protection, Deep Tech legal issues (blockchain to AI), justice algorithms
- Business Law: Economic law, banking law, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions
- Civil Law: Contract law, tort law, private law fundamentals
She coordinates the FabLex digital law clinic, supervises student hackathons, organizes DL4T summer schools, and leads tutorial teams while serving on dissertation juries. International research involves AI and quantum technology legal projects (AJC, G3, FEDEN).
