Dr. Obrey Alexis serves as Reader in Adult Nursing at Oxford Brookes University's Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery, with extensive NHS experience and PhD research on overseas nurses' experiences. His academic leadership includes supervision of doctoral candidates and development of undergraduate/postgraduate nursing curricula.
His research focuses on health disparities among Black and minority ethnic populations, particularly prostate cancer experiences in Black communities and migrant nurse integration. Utilizing mixed-methods approaches, his work examines cultural congruence in healthcare, social exclusion impacts, and service accessibility barriers. Recent projects include YouTube awareness campaigns for prostate cancer in Black African/Caribbean communities funded by the Mary Seacole Award.
