Alexis Jones is a Research Fellow (Postgraduate Associate) in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. She is a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at Auburn University, with a B.A. from Spelman College (2016) and an M.A. from Columbia University (2018). Her research focuses on racism-related stress, health disparities in Black communities, and culturally informed mental health interventions. She has clinical expertise in trauma treatment and works with underserved populations across diverse settings including correctional facilities and academic medical centers.

Research Interests: Alexis’s work centers on sociocultural strengths and risks affecting Black communities, with a focus on psychological pathways of oppression and resilience. She integrates an intersectional framework to address disparities in mental health care for marginalized groups. Her current projects explore trauma responses in Black women survivors of intimate partner violence and HIV risk behaviors among justice-involved young adults.
