Nishtha Ranawat, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Burke Neurological Institute, affiliated with Cornell University. She conducts research in the Yoshida Lab, focusing on neuronal circuitry underlying skilled motor movements in mouse models.
Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. from Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (2020), where she investigated microglia precursor migration in zebrafish retinal development and transcriptome dynamics in early microglia populations under Prof. Ichiro Masai. Her undergraduate training was completed in India.
Dr. Ranawat's research integrates Developmental Neuroscience and Neuroimmunology through model organism studies, with specialized expertise in Retinal Development using zebrafish genetics. Her current work transitions to mammalian systems, examining Neural Circuits and Motor Control mechanisms. This interdisciplinary approach bridges cellular neurobiology with systems-level motor function analysis, utilizing advanced techniques in neural connectivity mapping.
She contributes to the Yoshida Lab's mission at the Burke Neurological Institute, which centers on decoding movement-related neural pathways and developing interventions for neurological motor disorders.
