Nina Bailey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Montclair State University, part of the College of Science and Mathematics. She holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction: Mathematics Education from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Her research focuses on critical statistical literacy habits of mind and teacher noticing in technology-mediated learning environments. She has taught at various institutions, including Queens University of Charlotte and Central Piedmont Community College, and has extensive K-12 teaching experience, including roles as a high school mathematics teacher and special education coordinator.
Dr. Bailey’s educational background includes a B.S. in Mathematics with a Statistics concentration from Winston-Salem State University and a B.S. in Exceptional Student Education and Psychology from the University of Miami. She has been awarded multiple grants, including a $1.8 million NSF-funded project (PTMT-ESP) aimed at developing curricular units for preservice mathematics teachers. Her scholarly work spans peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and invited presentations, emphasizing technology integration and equity in mathematics education.
Her service contributions include roles on the AMTE Advocacy Committee, editorial panels for journals like CITE-Math, and committee work at Montclair State University. She mentors doctoral students and advises undergraduates, reflecting her commitment to fostering the next generation of mathematics educators.
