Nicolás Jaramillo

Dr. Nicolás Jaramillo is a Doctoral Fellow at the Max Weber Institute for Sociology, University of Heidelberg. His research focuses on democracy and democratization, political corruption, organizational deviances, and public-private relations. He actively participates in international academic networks, including the Heidelberg Research Group for Organization Studies (heiGOS) and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA). His work spans comparative studies across India, Colombia, and Germany.

His research examines political corruption as a structural issue intertwined with democracies, electoral competition, and organizational deviance. He analyzes public-private dichotomies in Latin American contexts, particularly Colombia, and explores whistleblowing and institutional responses in cases like Las Teresitas (Spain). His methodological approach combines empirical studies with theoretical frameworks from Marx, Luhmann, and Weber.

Jaramillo’s publications center on political corruption, democratization processes, and public-private tensions in Colombia and comparative contexts. His articles span historical analyses, theoretical models, and socio-political critiques, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with sociology, political theory, and legal pluralism.
