Nicole Pulliam

Nicole Pulliam, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Counseling and Leadership at Monmouth University. She holds roles such as Chair of the School of Education’s Social Justice Advocacy Committee and advisor to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Her research focuses on mental health of underrepresented students, impostor phenomenon, and college readiness for low-income populations. She teaches courses like Access and Equity in Education and Diversity and Social Justice.

Education: Ph.D. in Counselor Education (Montclair State University), M.A. in Counseling (Montclair State), B.A. in Psychology (Ramapo College).

Research Interests:

• Impostor phenomenon among marginalized students
• College/career readiness for socioeconomically disadvantaged populations
• Racial equity in higher education
• Multicultural counseling pedagogy

Service & Leadership: Serves on Monmouth University’s President’s Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusion, BADFU, and chairs the School of Education’s Social Justice Advocacy Committee. Active in national conferences presenting on racial justice, first-generation students, and LGBTQ+ issues.

Professional Activities: Publishes in journals like Journal of Multicultural Counseling & Development, co-edits book chapters on systemic racism and intersectionality. Frequently presents at ACA, NASPA, and ACES conferences.
