Dr. Nicola St John is a Senior Lecturer at RMIT University's School of Design, specializing in communication design research and education. She focuses on fostering collaborations between First Nations creatives, schools, design organizations, and institutions to promote intercultural knowledge exchange and student belonging. Her work emphasizes decolonial, intersectional, and pluriversal approaches in design education. She has been funded by Creative Victoria and Creative Australia, and honored with the Good Design Awards and RMIT’s Vice Chancellor’s Research Impact Award.
Dr. St John is co-founder of Indigenous-led design agency Solid Lines and co-lead of the InterDesigning network, which advocates integrating diverse cultural practices into design education. She holds a position at RMIT’s City Campus Australia and is open to supervising Masters and PhD students in culturally complex design contexts.
