Nick Llewellyn is Professor of Organisation Studies at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, where he has been faculty since joining as a Lecturer in 2003 after prior roles at Brunel University (2001-2003) and the Open University (2000-2001).
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. from Bournemouth University (1999)
Professor Llewellyn's research applies ethnomethodology and conversation analysis to investigate the social and interactional foundations of economic processes through video recordings of everyday work. His current studies examine charitable giving, debt collection, price negotiation, and cold calling, demonstrating how subtle interactional practices—such as phrasing questions—affect economic outcomes. This micro-analytic approach reveals how mundane interactions shape hard economic results.
He actively supervises PhD students in ethnomethodology and conversation analysis applied to organisational life, emphasizing real-world observation of sense-making practices in economic contexts.
