Nichola Minott is an Associate Teaching Professor at Northeastern University, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, specifically the departments of International Affairs, Political Science, and the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs. Her academic journey includes a PhD and MALD from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a BA in International Relations and Sociology from Connecticut College.

Dr. Minott’s research explores the intersection of environmental disasters and civil conflicts, notably examining the 2004 tsunami’s impact on conflicts in Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Her work emphasizes the vulnerability of marginalized communities to environmental policies and the role of natural resources in global conflicts, while integrating perspectives on climate justice and race.
She has taught courses on International Conflict and Negotiation and Research Methods in International Affairs, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches to conflict analysis and empirical research tools. Her professional engagements include being a Visiting Scholar/Professor at Boston College, a panelist at the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, and a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay.
