Professor Nic Clear is a renowned architect, writer, and curator serving as Dean of the School of Arts & Humanities and Head of the Department of Architecture and 3D Design at the University of Huddersfield. Previously, he was Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture and Landscape at the University of Greenwich (2011–202?), and held roles at the Bartlett School of Architecture for over two decades. His work integrates film, animation, and digital media into architectural practice, exhibited globally. Key affiliations include the Centre for Urban Design, Architecture and Sustainability, and the Centre for Cultural Ecologies in Art, Design and Architecture.
Research interests focus on science fiction, utopian theory, and the moving image in architecture, with projects exploring speculative urban futures and digital spatial practices. Notable exhibitions include 'Hyperreal Huddersfield' and 'Chthonopolis.' He has contributed to over 50 publications, including works on synthetic spaces, post-singularity utopias, and architectural narratives. Awards include recognition for his innovative use of digital media in architectural education.
