Daniele Porretta is an architect and academic specializing in urban studies, cultural history, and utopian/dystopian narratives. He serves as a Lecturer in the Bachelor of Design program at EINA and ELISAVA in Barcelona, with guest lectures at ETSAB, ETSAV, UAB, and UB.

Porretta's research analyzes the relationship between cities and their cinematic/literary representations, tracing urban futures from 19th-century technological utopias to 20th-century dystopias of social control. He currently investigates Mars as a cultural symbol through the lens of the "New Space Economy" and utopian traditions, emphasizing how collective imagination projects desires and fears onto extraterrestrial exploration. His work synthesizes architectural history, speculative fiction, and socio-political critique.

- Member of CSIC's Histopia team driving the "Red Trasatlántica de Estudio de las Utopías" project on transatlantic utopian imaginaries (19th-20th centuries)
