Nedzad Mesic is an Associate Professor at Linköping University’s Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning (IBL), part of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. His work focuses on migration, pedagogical practices, and social inclusion. He holds a PhD in Ethnic and Migration Studies (2017) and master’s degrees in Education and Arts. Previously a primary school teacher for newly arrived migrant children, he now teaches across multiple programs including Teacher Education, Social and Cultural Analysis, and Ethnic and Migration Studies.
His research examines migration governance (e.g., EU biometric systems), labor rights of precarious migrant workers, and language education’s role in social inclusion. Current projects include studies on seasonal berry workers’ rights and pandemic impacts on teacher training. He co-leads the local work environment officer role at IBL and supervises courses addressing educational assessment, special needs assistants, and social processes in teaching.
Key research themes include transnational labor dynamics, migration policy analysis, and the intersection of education with migrant integration. His publications (2016–2024) explore topics like Roma workers’ struggles, pandemic-driven educational shifts, and asylum seekers’ inclusion through popular education. He collaborates with institutions like the Swedish Research Council and non-profits, contributing to both academic and policy-oriented discourse on migration challenges.
