Professor Ned Vankevich is a dual US/Canadian academic with over 20 years of teaching at Trinity Western University. He holds a PhD from Regent University and has expertise in Rhetorical Criticism, Film Criticism, and Media Studies. His career includes both academic roles and professional work in film/television production across 48 countries. Active in multiple academic associations including the National Communication Association and Society for Cinema Studies.
Education: PhD (Regent University), MA (Old Dominion University), MA (Regent University), BA (McGill University). Courses taught include Digital Filmmaking, Film Studies, Screenwriting, and Public Speaking. He has directed numerous experimental films and led workshops on film analysis.
Research focuses on intersections of media, rhetoric, and spirituality. Key themes include postmodern theology in cinema, agonistic communication theory, and the rhetoric of medical discourse. Recent work explores bio-spirituality and placebo effects in healthcare communication.
Award-winning filmmaker and scholar, Vankevich has received grants totaling over $48,000 for projects including forest documentation and film preservation. His 2019 screenplay VENOM won The People’s Pilot Competition. Over 60 peer-reviewed publications span film analysis, communication theory, and medical rhetoric.
