Nassim Parvin is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington's iSchool, where she also serves as the Associate Dean for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access & Sovereignty (IDEAS). Her work bridges theoretical scholarship with practical design interventions, critically examining how emerging technologies shape social interactions and democratic possibilities.

Parvin's research integrates pragmatist ethics and feminist theory to critically engage with technologies like smart cities and artificial intelligence. Her scholarship spans design philosophy, human-computer interaction, science and technology studies, and feminist philosophy. She produces both traditional scholarly work and digital artifacts that demonstrate how humanistic values can shape technological infrastructures. Her designs have been deployed at organizations like the Mayo Clinic and exhibited at venues including the Smithsonian Museum.
Parvin's recent book Technocreep and the Politics of Things Not Seen (Duke University Press, 2025), co-edited with Neda Atanasoski, examines the ambivalent relationship we have with emerging technologies that provoke a sense of 'creep.' Her work consistently addresses how technology affects collective social interactions and democratic processes, with particular attention to questions of justice and inclusion.
