Nancy E. Davidson

Nancy E. Davidson, MD, is the Executive Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and holds the Raisbeck Endowed Chair for Collaborative Research. As a Fred Hutch Professor in the Clinical Research Division, she leads translational and clinical research in breast cancer, focusing on epigenetics and hormonal pathways. Her work bridges Fred Hutch’s research programs with clinical care through the Fred Hutch/University of Washington/Seattle Children's Cancer Consortium.

Education: MD from Harvard Medical School, BA in Molecular Biology from Wellesley College. Past leadership roles include President of the American Association for Cancer Research (2016-2017) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (2007-2008).

Research interests center on epigenetic mechanisms in hormone-resistant breast cancer, including DNA methylation and histone modifications. Her lab pioneered studies on estrogen receptor regulation and apoptosis induction in breast cancer cells, leading to clinical trials of epigenetic modifiers. She chairs the Breast Committee for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and co-founded the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium (TBCRC).

Key achievements include establishing new therapeutic regimens for breast cancer through trials on endocrine therapy optimization, taxanes, and trastuzumab. Recognized for advancing evidence-based clinical pathways and oncology cost-effectiveness through ASCO initiatives.

Affiliations include membership in the Immunotherapy and Translational Data Science Integrated Research Centers at Fred Hutch. Clinical expertise focuses on breast cancer management and oncology clinical trial design.
