Omar Mian

Omar Mian, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Human Biology Division and Radiation Oncology Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), with a concurrent appointment in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He serves as Precision Radiation Sciences Lead at Fred Hutch, specializing in genitourinary cancers including prostate, bladder, and testicular malignancies.

• MD, PhD in Microbiology and Immunology, VCU School of Medicine (2011)

Research Focus: Dr. Mian investigates molecular drivers of urogenital cancers, emphasizing three domains:

• Genetic/epigenetic mechanisms of hormone-receptor-mediated radiation resistance
• Lineage plasticity in neuroendocrine cancer evolution
• Novel radiotherapy technologies (proton/neutron therapy, radiopharmaceuticals, FLASH)

His lab employs orthotopic tumor models, AI-driven spatial omics, and clinical data integration to develop targeted therapies.

Laboratory Leadership: Directs the Mian Lab focused on translating molecular oncology discoveries into clinical applications through interdisciplinary collaboration.
